Who are we:
- an open and uncommercial sewing workspace for everybody
- around 10 people of different ages and gender
- we organize the Kabutze e.V. as a non-profit association and try to make our decisions in a
hierarchy critical and consensual way
- we don’t produce and sell, we try to make our knowledge and equipment accessible to everybody

What we do:
- open workspace: during our regular opening hours, we help our visitors with the repair of their clothes, to design and produce their own products or to upcycle their old clothes
- sewing workshops during which the participants have 1 to 2 days to produce your own product (for example pullover or a bagpack) with the help of an expert
- upcycling workshops: with school classes or at street-festivals with our sewing machine-cargobike (a bike with integrated sewing machine and room for different materials)
- clothes-swap-partys: people swap their clothes and save resources
- lectures: about working conditions, beauty craze and gender norms in the clothing industry, fair trade unions and capitalism

We are looking for:
You should be interested in sewing and/or the social and ecological effects of the clothing industry. Ideally you already possess some skills in sewing techniques, but it's not a necessity for us, you can learn it with your progression through your EVS. We are also looking for interests in public relations, event organization, people that can work independently and most importantly want to be a part of our non-profit, low hierarchy organization.

Your tasks could be:
- mentoring of our regular opening hours
- supporting with our advertising and our public output (Facebook, Instagram, Website-
Management, press releases)
- support for the workshops (registration, organization, documentation)
- you can plan and do your own project (with support from us if you want) with something of your own choice (events, upcycling, projects with refugees or something totally different)

- as in any EVS project: free accommodation in a shared flat with other volunteers (you will have your own room), monthly pocket money and food allowance, free healthcare-, travel- and third-party-insurance, travel money (lump-sum according to the distance to your home country), approximately 25 holiday days, sveral weeks of international seminars with other volunteers
