We started a new year of volunteering

25 volunteers started their voluntary service in September. Prochar from Belarus reports on the kick-off seminar at the manor house in Ramin...

We all know that Turbina Pomerania is about bringing nice people together to change this world for the better. That's what we did during the first seminar. It took place from September 27 to October 2 in Ramin.

We volunteers from the different local groups and initiatives had a great time developing more connections for the future.

We spent the first day getting to know each other and breaking the ice. We played many games and spent a pleasant time.

The second day was more dedicated to organizational matters: We introduced each other to our projects and hosting organisations and discussed the possibilities for cooperation. The coming year should be really fruitful.

Of course, you can't expect much from coworking with people you don't know well. That's why we dedicated the third day to getting to know each other even better. We had "walk-and-talk" time and took a little trip to find out about a nice project in the neighbouring town of Löcknitz.

After all the time we spent together, there was a moment on the fourth day to do a little introspection. We made a list of our privileges, learned a bit of conflict resolution theory from our lovely guest Laura, and worked out a strategy for working together full of acceptance and inclusion for the future.

Unfortunately, the fifth day was also the last, so we used it to make plans together.  We made a list of all possible activities in 4 areas: Education, Sports, Sustainable lifestyle, and Culture. After that, we made a sketch calendar of common activities for later.

Throughout the seminar, we shared with each other how we were doing and made a list of expectations, which were also (almost) all met.

I am looking forward to the volunteer year together with this great group.
