A logo for Turbina Pomerania

After almost 10 years of "Turbina Pomerania" we have developed our logo in an exciting process and have chosen new colors and our own font. Read here what is behind "community design" and how the name "Turbina Pomerania" came into being ...

"Is that a soccer club?"

"Turbine - as in wind turbine?"

- we are often asked how the name "Turbina Pomerania" actually came about.

The riddle's solution: almost 10 years ago, Turbina Pomerania was founded as a Polish-German project between Greifswald and Szczecin. Pomerania (in German: Pommern) is a European border region, half of which lies in Germany (Vorpommern in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, but also parts of Brandenburg) and the other half in Poland. In the EU there are many such euroregions, which often also have their own funding program and in which civil society and regional administration are often more involved in cross-border understanding and encounters. Turbina is a word that stands for movement in both German and Polish. And we have always wanted to move people - across borders and in terms of content. Already in the first year Belarus was added as a partner country and step by step Turbina Pomerania has developed into a very international project. We are happy about this every day!

By the way: more about the origin of the project, our idea & motivation and the stories and faces of the past years, we have collected on the page about us and in a brochure.

Maybe not as often as for our name, but every now and then we were also asked for our logo. But to conjure a logo out of thin air is not easy - so we postponed the task from year to year and just "muddled through" in the design of flyers and our Instagram account. It worked, too. At the same time, we longed more and more for a unified design, our own "Turbina colors" and a logo.

In spring 2022, we embarked on the path of "community design" together with [druckkammer]. Under the creative and competent guidance of Alexia, Zmuda and Manja, we reflected on our work, values, tasks and goals. Animals and words were associated, motifs were laid out with snippets and discarded again, we drew sketches, prioritized them, put them aside, looked at them again - and learned a lot in the process! Not only about how creative processes develop and run, but also about ourselves. Many thanks to the team of [druckkammer].

At the end of this process we gave all our thoughts, preliminary work and wishes into the hands of Igel & Ente.

Now we are more than happy to present our brand-new logo to the world!

We like the logo, the colors and also the font very much and they will now gradually find their place in our everyday life.

With the logo we also say goodbye to a short summer break. Our office will be closed from August 7 to 25.

We wish everyone a relaxing summer, wind in your sails and open horizons.
